Frequently Asked Questions

How can I determine if Occupational Therapy would be beneficial for me?

If you’re finding it challenging to perform activities that are essential to you, we understand how frustrating it can be. Occupational Therapy is a specialised therapy that can help you improve your ability to do the things that matter to you. If you’re having trouble moving around your home, remembering to do things, or experiencing pain or fatigue that affects your ability to work, study, or take care of yourself, we’re here to help. You can contact us free of charge to discuss your needs, and we’ll assess your situation to see how we can assist you. Remember, you’re not alone, and we’re here to support you every step of the way.

What qualifies an occupational therapist as a specialist?

When looking for an Occupational Therapist, it is important to ensure that they have the required qualifications, such as a degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy and relevant experience in dealing with your specific medical conditions and issues. If you are unsure about the therapist, it is crucial to have a detailed conversation about your requirements, and then make an informed decision about the best course of action.

What qualifications are required for an occupational therapist?

An Occupational Therapist must have a degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy and may have additional postgraduate training in specialised areas. All our therapists at Balvir Kaur Access to Therapy and Independence Limited hold the necessary professional memberships.

What insurance and professional registrations are required for occupational therapists?

Independent Occupational Therapists must have professional indemnity insurance and should be registered with the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). It is advisable for the therapist to also become a member of a specialist section of the RCOT.

What are the costs and how long does the assessment and treatment process take?

Our fees are comparable to those charged by other independent Occupational Therapy providers. For detailed pricing information, please contact us.
The number of treatment sessions required varies based on a range of factors including our client’s identified problems and the involvement of other multidisciplinary team professionals. Following an initial assessment, we can provide a more accurate estimate of the number of sessions needed.
The nature of assessments can vary depending on our client’s requirements. Generally, a 2-hour initial assessment session is sufficient to identify key difficulties and goals. We can provide assessment reports, and the costs for these reports will depend on the level of detail required.
Additional assessments may be recommended to provide more in-depth information, such as standardised and/or practical assessments.
The number of recommended treatment sessions is based on the results of the assessment process and will be agreed upon before any treatment commences.
